Fall Stitch Fix: Learning to Love My Fuller Figure with This Fix!

After having a baby, I hoped to have my pre-baby body back in days... I would have even been okay with seeing my weight jump back to a normal number within weeks. But alas, I'm still carrying around a couple of extra pounds and I'm totally rocking a mama pooch at this point. While I'm not exactly satisfied with my shape at this moment, I'm learning to find confidence in my mom-bod... just like the "dad-bod" was fully embraced by society, I'm trying to do the same for myself.

One of the best ways I've found to embrace my curvier figure is continuing my Stitch Fix subscription post-natal. The maternity fixes they sent were amazing and I loved my box when I was thinner, but having a stylist help me style my fuller-figured self this month was life changing and so incredibly flattering.

On that note, we'll start with the most flattering items in my fix. I fell in love with this fun and funky striped, polka dot, and floral-pocketed top and the leather and trimmed leggings. Both items are so incredibly adorable and the perfect additions to my wardrobe. The top is the perfect mixture of all things trendy and a great addition to my statement pieces and the bottoms are classic with a twist, my personal favorite way to rock a classic look!

The next item in the box that I am debating on keeping is the green tunic top. It's a great classic piece, but other than the color - I'm not so sure I "just love" it! I will say it's super soft and a great casual looking item. What do you think of it... Should I keep it?

Another item from my fix I'm seriously considering adding to my wardrobe is the grey asymmetrical jacket. It's definitely another fun and funky piece but I think maybe it isn't the most flattering looking for my post-baby body. The pockets are a HUGE bonus in my book but the cut of the jacket makes me feel like I'm larger than I am.

The last item in my fix, that I thought I would love but then didn't just go gaga over once it was on was the adorable patterned sweatshirt. I love, love, love this look but the way it fit my curves left something to be desired. It's so incredibly soft and just the right amount of cute so I may have to buy it in a size up or keep it just so I can plan on rocking it once I'm a little closer to my goal.

Well, ladies and gentlemen, it's official - Delainey Kate Harmon has made her way into this world! She came early and unexpectedly on September 2nd, weighing in at a whopping 7lbs 10oz and measuring 20 inches long. Now, I may be biased, but she really has the most perfect little personality already. We giggle about her funny little habits (like the mean mugging face you see above), we stare at her in awe when she does something new, and we have already spent hours talking about her, her future, and what she will accomplish. So, I guess you could say my hubby and I have become doting parents and we couldn't be more proud, she's perfect in our eyes. She's stolen our hearts and it's 100% confirmed, my husband and I are both madly in love with her and this love is something we both have never felt before... it's unexplainable and amazing - yet, I know other parents know exactly what I mean.

While I absolutely love every single second I spend with her, I'll admit that my favorite part of parenthood so far may just be getting to chose adorable little outfits that compliment her personality perfectly. As a shopaholic and a fashion enthusiast, it's easy to see why I'm such a fan of tiny little adorable outfits!

It's safe to say we have a ton of cute clothing for her... maybe because shopping and adding pieces to her wardrobe has been a priority for me since we found out we were expecting; but I'll admit all the pieces that I love the most in her collection of cuteness are from Carter's! It may be because they have the cutest bodysuits on the planet... or the fact that I can mix and match almost all of the pieces in her wardrobe to make even more adorable outfits, but I must say Carter's is my go-to store when we're talking fashion for my Delainey Kate.

Why do I love the brand so much? Carter's offers a variety of sizes, which means I can keep my little darling fashionable through out every stage in her life... not just this one! While she's super cute now in her newborn outfits, I can't wait until fall when I can put her in her oh-so-fashionable 3 month outfit sets and then, when Spring rolls around in 2017 we will definitely have a full Carter's 6 month wardrobe to share with you again... because as I mentioned, I'm a little obsessed!

I noticed recently that my Carter's location has stocked up on a great variety of holiday outfits, including Halloween costumes! They actually offer such a great array, it was hard to decide what to get Delainey on our most recent shopping trip for her. While I didn't buy her costume from Carter's, yet... I did find a Halloween outfit that I think her daddy will just adore. With such a cute style, I'm pretty keen on it as well and I've actually decided I'll be buying her Thanksgiving outfit on our next visit and I just know the little turkey will look adorable in it!

If you're like me, you probably don't even need another reason to love Carter's, but these character sets are just too cute for words so I have to share. After seeing the great price point on these beauties, it only made sense to me to stock up on a variety of cozy fall looks for my gal. From foxes to scottie dogs, Delainey will be stylin' in these sets while the fall weather rolls in and since they have short sleeve and long sleeve options - they are perfect for Florida winter too!

While the sets are almost too adorable, with a pair of pants and a bodysuit or two included, it's my duty to continue sharing all the great finds available at Carter's! After I saw their newer boho-looking collection, I knew she had to have a few pieces to rock during my favorite season!

With feathers and fringe everywhere, it's easy to see why I was gaga over these pieces... I almost walked out without buying a single piece of the line though, because all the items in littler sizes were already snagged by other adoring mothers. But luckily the awesome staff at my location took this bodysuit and feathery pant set off the manikin just so Delainey could rock the look this fall! While I managed to snag this look, I plan on looking at the other location nearby me to find the rest of the collection... because you can't ever have enough fringe and feathers on a baby, am I right?!

While I've bragged about all of my awesome finds recently, I feel the need to share the main reason I love Carter's so much for Delainey. Six Ways to Remain Confident (or Gain Confidence) While Pregnant! #BeComfydent

Let's play a little game, what do these phrases have in common?

"Are you expecting twins?"...

"WOW! You look like you're a month overdue!"...

"You're huge!"...

"You're going to POP any day now!"...

You may have guessed it, but for those that didn't know, these are all statements I've heard a handful of times over the last few days from complete strangers. While I'm certain every person that uttered these words to me didn't intend to hurt my feelings - honestly, they kind of did. Then I remembered I'm a confident, beautiful woman, growing a life within my body and shook off all that negativity. If you've been pregnant before or you are currently expecting as well, you know it's tough learning to accept your body when you are carrying a child, no matter how blessed you feel so today I want to share how I've changed my mindset and hopefully I can help another mama change hers if she gets these comments from a stranger any time soon!

Now I'll agree, it's hard hearing every strangers opinion as they walk by and it's even harder watching stretch marks pop up all over the place, but the best part is you are working toward a great end result... that little baby of yours! While it's tough to learn to accept your body during any part of pregnancy, it's totally possible and it may actually be easier than you think. While I'm 9 months pregnant and the last comment listed above may be the truest of the four, I've finally learned to accept my body the way it is and I want to share a few ways I've mastered this "art":

1. Let yourself enjoy pregnancy. This may be the easiest and the hardest part of pregnancy. I love every single second that I'm pregnant, but at the same time things get a bit uncomfortable during your 9th month of pregnancy. I've learned to just let your mind accept that your body knows what it's doing and that you can't compare your bump to your besties, you both are two different people so it only makes sense that your bumps are different. Whether your bump is the size of a planet or tiny, appreciate the fact that you are growing a life within it and embrace the beauty of knowing it will all be over fairly soon. Take photos weekly and embrace watching the beauty that is growing within your body!

2. Wear undergarments that make you feel confident and dare I say sexy. I recommend Hanes, simply because they keep me comfortable, cool, and confident during these warm summer months.

4. Educate yourself. Instead of worrying if your belly is the right size, learn about it. Spend a few minutes finding books that will help you master the art of pregnancy, then read all you can about the stage of pregnancy you are currently in.

5. Stay active! While walking is more like waddling at this point, I suggest you take a few minutes each day to walk around the block or even around your favorite place to shop. If walking is too much, spend a few minutes doing some yoga, even if it's just a pose in the morning and a pose at night. It may not seem like much, but the activity is good for you and baby and it'll keep your mind off how round your bump is while also helping your body digest food, circulate blood, increase oxygen flow, etc.

6. Spend time with your husband, spouse, partner, or whatever you call your other half. Tell him about how you're feeling and I bet he's smart enough to let you know that he truly loves you and your belly, it doesn't matter what shape it is or how round it gets...

There you have it, six different ways you can learn to embrace your growing baby bump and gain confidence. I know it's easier said than done, but take it from a girl who has heard every questionable statement from a stranger during her pregnancy... it's okay to love your body while pregnant and even better, be confident! Rock what your mama gave you and what you're giving your baby!

Keeping my little girl stylish and safe through out every stage in her life is definitely one of my goals as a first time mama.
