A Day in The Life of Two Spoiled Dogs + How They Achieve a #BrightMind!

If you've been reading the blog lately, you know that my pups are officially "senior" dogs now and they made the switch to ProPlan BrightMind - a food that helps dog's (over the age of seven) live a better life. Every morning, as the sun rises, it's time to stretch and cuddle - sometimes it's best to do both at the same time, but we must hurry before either of us makes a puddle. After showering our parents with kisses and giving our favorite people in the world the the chance to pet us, it's time to go out side, it's time to make a fuss.

Oh, YAY, Dad's getting up! Hip, hip, hooray! Let me introduce you to what we call a "poodle parade". We shall bounce and we shall hollar about how excited we are to be awake, no matter our age this is a tradition that will never fade!

It's a great day to be alive, unless you're a lizard - well, then you'd much rather be stuck in a blizzard. While outside it's time to relieve ourselves first, but since we moved to Florida these little reptilian creatures are always here to play with - is it a blessing or a curse?! After making sure all the lizards are thoroughly terrified, it's time to go have breakfast inside.

With a hoot and a hollar, we're back through the door; we made it just in time to see mom setting our food on the floor. Would you look at that? It's BRIGHTMIND! This food is the best kind! There's a cat, a squirrel, a bunny, a puppy, even a mouse... but over there, did you see? There's a family of butterflies fluttering by that house! Oh look, there's that friendly neighbor man and boy, do we love when he pets us with his hand. Out here there's bikes, mopeds, cars, and vehicles of all kinds We're lucky to be here, that is clear... but it's beginning to get hot and outside dogs we're not.

Home sweet home, but first let me lick this garden gnome. After we have a slurp of water and cool down, it's time to play a game made for a hound.

This one could be tricky, if you're feeling icky - it's all about using your nose, the best part is - everyone wins, so no loser is stuck in their woes. It's almost as if BrightMind is a treat, having to work for our food is kind of neat.

Now that we've had all this fun, can we call today done? It must be time for sleep, but a clock is something we can not keep. What's that you say, it's only noon? Well, we're going to take a nap, so we can rest up and do this all again soon.

I know people think I'm a bit kooky when I say this but my dogs are my children, bringing them both home as little itty, bitty puppies and raising them into the rambunctious, feisty dogs they are today has been a joy! While I realize they aren't exactly the same as having kids, I like to call them my furbabies.

They have taught me so much through out the years, from learning to have patience with my needy poodle, Gnarly; to how easy it is to love something unconditionally like I do with my little mix, Pow. My bond with my dogs is pretty special and if you have dogs, I'm sure you know what I mean.They seem to understand me when I need them to and they definitely love me no matter what, exactly what a dog should do!

My dogs and I have had so many great years together already, but the reality is that none of us are getting any younger... Gnarly is 7, Miley is 8, and they are technically considered "adult" or maybe even "senior" dogs now. Now this may be true, but we all can do things to keep our minds & our bodies young! While I'm doing everything I can to keep my body and mind in tip-top shape, I've also decided to make some adjustments in my dogs lives to help them live a more balanced, healthy lifestyle!

We still have more changes we plan to implement, but the first adjustment we made for their over-all lifestyle change was changing their food to something that powers their minds as well as their bodies. We chose to switch their foods to BrightMind after learning that the food is supposed to help increase cognitive awareness!

During their transition to BrightMind, we noticed a switch in their behavior. Pow picked up new tricks that she's not been able to master before... who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? She's now staying, speaking, and waiting patiently for her treats with the command "steady". She's proud of her new accomplishments and we're pretty proud of her as well.

With Gnarly, he's always been our little prodigy so we haven't taught him any new tricks simply because he knew them all already. We are working on mastering not destroying toys though and since he's been on the new food, he's only destroyed one toy and is keeping his new puppy toy damage free. He's also been less inclined to whine lately and has been more expressive with showing us what he needs, it's been a tremendous change and so incredibly stress reliving.

We still have a little bit of the bag left so I'm not going to share their "final" results while eating the food yet, but I'm super happy to report that they seem to like the food and they definitely are showing signs that the food works!
