Handmade Marejesho Recycled Paper Bead Necklace from Uganda

The Marejesho Recycled Paper Bead Necklace, handmade from recycled paper,
tells a story of restoration. Make a statement of fashion and transformation.
Let your accessories bring HOPE to those who need help in Africa.
1 in 8 people lack access to clean water...
7 in 8 can change that,
Are you ready?

The Marejesho Recycled Paper Bead Necklace is hand crafted,
made by an art form that is common across East Africa -
Strips of paper are cut from old magazines,
wrapped tightly into beads, and hardened with glue.
After being strung together, the beautiful assortment of colors forms
a unique necklace in which no two are exactly alike.
The string of beads measures 36 in. long,
and can be worn as a necklace or wrapped several times as a bracelet.

The Marejesho Necklaces are made by an artisan group
living in an IDP (Internally Displaced Persons) camp in northern Uganda.
-This region has suffered from the effects of a civil war in Sudan
and also from the destructive war of Joseph Kony and the LRA (Lord’s Resistance Army).-
The wonderful people over at Drop in the Bucket started this program
as a way for women to make an income for themselves.
Drop in the Bucket is a nonprofit organization
that provides clean water for schools through building wells
and sanitation systems across Sub-Saharan Africa.
The proceeds from these necklaces help
them continue their important work of delivering clean water,
continuing education, and providing sustaining income to the communities through jobs.

This necklace is dreamy, eccentric, and perfect for a pop of color in ANY outfit.
Plus the proceeds help those in need,
I can't think of a better reason to rock this gorgeous necklace.
I paired my necklace with a black dress and I was complimented through out the day.
I think this beauty would be a great necklace to give to a child as well,
it's sturdy and so colorful... I know my niece would love one!
I highly recommend all of the products from Intrinsic Styles.
It's time to change the world,
one adorable necklace and one bucket of water at a time.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com
Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
