Creative and Cheap Valentine Inspiration: Being Your Valentine is a Piece of Cake Valentine Freebie Printable

This post contains affiliate links, that just means I make a small commission if you decide to buy after clicking through on my link. It doesn't charge you anything, but allows me to help my family!

Getting ready for Valentine's Day last minute this year? Here's a super cute Valentine idea for anyone in your life and it's a "piece of cake" to prepare - grab this printable and a squishy from Dollar Tree (or even a cupcake from the grocery store) and leave this on your Valentine's table.

I love this cute valentine piece of cake squishy for so many reasons - I mean, it's adorable, so there's that - but it's also a great "stress reliever" and it's a clever way to remind someone you are thinking of them. It's truly a multi-functional valentine in many ways.

The best part of this little Valentine though, was The Dollar Store had so many different options! I loved that they had a million different cake squishies, that way you could give each teacher in your kiddos life one of these or even leave them on the secretaries desks at your work with THIS free printable.

Creative Valentine Idea: Seeds with a FREE Printable - You Make My Heart Bloom & I Love Watching Our Friendship Grow!

This post may include affliliate links - that means if you click through on a link that I may make a tiny portion of the sale, if you happen to make a purchase! You aren't charged anything additional, you're just helping me support my family!

Valentine's Day is right around the corner, which means things are getting pretty creative over in the Harmon household.

Instead of just buying a box of Valentine's, you know I had to have some fun and make things for D's little buddies. The good news is, I didn't have to spend much at all to create a SUPER UNIQUE and fun valentine for her to hand out! I got all kinds of inspiration at The Dollar Store and then made printables and attached them with pink and white twine to make them just the right amount of cute!

I also got carried away and made a ton of Valentine's, not just this cute set of Seedling inspired valentines! Don't worry, I'll be sharing them all before the holiday!

Today I wanted to share a simple and FUN Valentine you can make in minutes that will really make someone's heart grow! That's right, this fun little Valentine will be so perfect for the plant lovers in your life - and the cuteness and creativeness is bound to impress your kiddos friends at school! You can claim the rights to being a Pinterest Mom without much effort at all!

All you have to do is print this off - I've attached this FREE printable! There is 3 cards for the "You make my heart bloom" and 3 cards for the "I love watching our friendship grow" - that means you can print off like 4 sheets of these or so and have enough for the whole class. I printed using these settings in Adobe! You'll obviously switch the printer to YOUR printer, then set the page sizing to custom 2 x 3 booklet and you are good to go! Use a paper cuter like this one to get a clean cut and then attach the card with a tiny bit of twine and hot glue!

Then, just grab the seeds from the Dollar Store! These were 3 packs for $1 at our location so this Valentine craft can be done for next to nothing!

Pin for later (or maybe even next year):

FINALLY Sharing My Little Valentine's Day Secret!

You may have noticed I've been a little quiet around here lately; I'm going to be honest with you today, I've been doing my best to share awesomeness with you as often as possible, but I've been busy & I may have been keeping a little bit of a secret from you...

I'm super excited to share that we are finally expecting! Little Baby Harmon is due in September 2016 and both my husband and I are thrilled! We went home earlier this month to share our news with our family and some close family friends but I wanted to make things official and share on our blog... if I could, I'd probably shout it from a mountain top as well. I'm that excited!

If you've been following the blog recently, you may have read that we have been longing to have a little one... So as you would expect, I'm super excited to share our journey into parenthood with you! Speaking of sharing, here's our first ultrasound from when we first found out in January!

Other than a sonogram photo of our baby from a few weeks I go, I'm not sure what to share as of yet... We're going to see the doc again tomorrow so I'll have a better update soon!

For now I'll start with a little bit about the pregnancy so far: I've been SO sick, it's insane. Morning, afternoon, and evening sickness almost every day, but it'll totally be worth it! When I'm not feeling sick, I'm craving foods that satisfy my sweet tooth and oddly, mashed potatoes are a normal craving as well! My spicy food craze that I've had my entire life has come to a screeching halt and I'm suddenly craving less seasoning and meals toddlers would enjoy like chicken tenders and mac & cheese!

Beyond my sickness and cravings, we're super excited to find out if we are having a boy or a girl, as most couples are in the early months of pregnancy! While we're imagining whether we'll be buying little bows and pearls or tiny little toy cars and water guns, we're also starting to pick out names, nursery themes, and all the fun stuff we think we may want to add to the baby registry! As you can tell, we're both just a little overjoyed!

So, if you have any excellent parenting advice, tips for items we must have as new parents, or you just want to share some exciting news with me, I'd love to hear about it in the comments below!

OH & by the way, Happy Valentine's Day! It's an especially happy holiday in our house this year!

I decided to make two love day crafts, one a simple painting on canvas and another a decorated pot for a new plant I picked up at Ikea. No matter what you decide to add some little love hearts to, I guarantee this craft will steal someone's heart and they'll be asking for a couple to ad to their space as well!

You will need:

1 toilet paper roll
1 small pink & 1 white acrylic paint
A "canvas" of sorts

Now it's time to get crafty! You'll pinch the TP roll into the shape of a heart, or you can let your little one shape the heart. Once it's the perfect bubbly little token of love, you should start to mix your paint. Just a little tip: If you're letting tiny little hands in on this project, you might want to wrap a rubber band around the TP roll to ensure the heart stays in the same shape!

With the paint, leave a bit of the edges unmixed to give your hearts a tie-dye look. Now go ahead and dip your toilet paper roll into the paint and place the paint end on the surface of your canvas (or pot, mug, vase, etc). Gently make sure all edges of the heart have made contact with the surface and remove the roll fairly quickly. Repeat until you've reached the desired amount of hearts on your craft!

With my actual canvas craft I decided to add the world love with a small paint brush at the bottom and fill in a few of the hearts with paint! I think the end result is adorable, don't you?!

Valentine’s Day Candies with Marshmallow Crème

Time: 2 hours
Yields: 8 Candies

Ingredients:
½ cup Wilton Bright Pink Candy Melts
1 tbsp. Cream Cheese
½ cup Marshmallow Crème
Red Coloring
Small Candy Hearts (red, pink, or white)

Instructions

A Wilton Candy Melting Pot is recommended to heat candy melts. If you do not own a candy melt pot, you can simply microwave candy melts at 50% for 30 seconds. Stir. Heat at 50% for 30 seconds. Stir. Heat at 50% in 15-second intervals and stir until completely smooth. Do not over heat.

The next step is easy, using a spoon, slowly pour candy melts into each circular cavity in your candy mold. Rotate the mold from side to side, ensuring all sides are coated. Dip out any excess. The goal is to create a thin shell. Gently tap mold onto countertop to remove air bubbles.

Place mold in freezer for 30 minutes.

In a small mixing bowl, combine marshmallow crème and cream cheese. Add red food coloring until desired color is achieved.

Remove mold from freezer and add in marshmallow crème mixture into each circular cavity.

Pour a thin layer of pink candy melts on top of each cavity, creating an enclosure, don't forget to wipe any excess from the side. Place mold in freezer for 30 minutes, then remove. Gently pop each candy from the candy mold.

Add a drop of pink candy melt to some cute small candy hearts and place on each candy.

Place candies in freezer for 15 minutes, remove & enjoy!

Treat your sweetheart to something delicious & homemade with the recipe for these amazing marshmallow creme candies!
